Top Ten Tips for a Bright and Cheery Holiday Season Essential tips to ensure a headache-free holiday

The holiday season can go from bright and cheery to dark and dreary in a quick instant. For many migraineurs, a variety of triggers can be responsible for headaches and agony that can easily be avoided. That is why the National Headache Foundation (NHF) in partnership with ACME SAV-ON PHARMACY is offering its top 10 tips to ensure a headache-free and enjoyable holiday.

From December 19 through the New Year- the NHF’s “Top Ten Tips for a Bright and Cheery Holiday Season,” will be available at all 80 ACME SAV-ON PHARMACY locations. ACME SAV-ON pharmacists will distribute these seasonal headache tips upon request. The tips also will be available online at both www.headaches.org and www.acmesavonpharmacies.com

Avoiding smoke and perfume, getting plenty of sleep and avoiding certain food triggers are just a few examples of tips on the list. The NHF also uses the list to remind readers to work in partnership with their healthcare providers to obtain an accurate diagnosis and find appropriate treatment options.

“Every holiday season millions of people will suffer from headaches that may be preventable. By making these tips available, we hope to improve the quality of life for headache sufferers and let them know there are available resources that can help them and their family members,” said Suzanne Simons, executive director, National Headache Foundation.

Nearly 30 million Americans suffer from migraines. Most of these sufferers are not diagnosed or adequately treated, according to the American Migraine Prevalence and Prevention Study. “The NHF tips for avoiding holiday headaches can be a valuable source of information for the occasional headache sufferer as well as the person who has recurring headache pain. By following these ten simple recommendations, many people may be able to reduce the likelihood of a headache,” said ACME SAV-ON Pharmacist Walter East.

“I just wanted to take a minute or two to let you know how very informative my husband and I found the presentation which was held in St. Louis a couple of weekends ago. We walked away with a lot of information and didn't feel so all alone and confused.”
