The Organization: The National Headache Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 1970. NHF is dedicated to three major goals:
- serving as an information resource to headache sufferers, the physicians and allied healthcare providers who treat them and the public;
- supporting headache research; and
- providing educational and informational resources and advocating for the understanding of headache as a legitimate neurobiological disease.
NHF disseminates free information on headache causes and treatments, funds research and sponsors public and professional education seminars nationwide. In addition to functioning as a clearinghouse for information, NHF also has audio and videotapes, brochures and other helpful materials available for purchase. A nationwide network of local support groups has been organized.
Information Services: To request information and a complimentary copy of NHF HeadLines, our award-winning bimonthly newsletter, send a self-addressed, business-letter sized envelope with three first-class stamps affixed. Mention headache type or briefly describe symptoms if undiagnosed. A state list of NHF physician members is available on request.
The NHF offers its members 6 issues of our award-winning bimonthly newsletter NHF HeadLines and monthly e-newsletter NHF News to know in your e-mail box (hard copy, upon request), for an annual fee of $20.00 to receive it electronically, or $25.00 to receive a printed copy through the U.S. mail, plus discounts on educational materials.
