H. Pylori Infection and Migraine

Helicobacter pylori (H.P.) is a common bacteria believed to play a role in some cases of gastric ulcers.

A study in Italy suggests that this bacteria may also be a factor in migraine. A combination treatment, which includes antibiotics, may cure the infection and help with migraine. But there is not enough evidence to indicate that H.P. is a causative factor in migraine.

Your healthcare provider can order a simple test, to determine the presence of the infection. If one member of the family has the infection, it can be spread to other family members by eating or drinking contaminated foods.
