BE ONE IN A MILLION – SUPPORT THE MIGRAINE MILLION CAMPAIGN

The National Headache Foundation’s Migraine Million Campaign is off to a great start! Through these campaign efforts, we hope to educate people on the seriousness of migraine and headache. So far, the Migraine Million campaign has inspired many sufferers to take action and find relief and support our efforts to fund migraine education and awareness.

 

Though the campaign was launched successfully on Mother’s Day, we hope to continue raising funds throughout the next year.  By May 2010, our goal is to raise one million dollars. We hope that one million of the nearly 30 million people who suffer from migraine will each donate $1 toward the on-going campaign.

 

To work toward our goal to keep headache research and education alive, we encourage you to contribute to our worthwhile cause. The NHF uses 82 cents of every dollar donated to support the programs and services that we provide to improve the lives of headache sufferers.  Every dollar counts!

 

What is my donation doing for people with headache?

 

Consider this: Data show that migraine alone is the 12th most disabling disorder in the U.S. today, yet headache research does not receive nearly as much funding as needed to help millions of sufferers compared with other diseases that are less prevalent. Less than 1% of research funding from the National Institutes of Health research goes to headache. Yet, more research is exactly what is needed to understand headache causes which will ultimately result in better and more effective treatments.

Promoting migraine awareness and education is the first step toward helping sufferers find relief. Studies show that more than half of sufferers never received a physician diagnosis. By educating Migraineurs about the benefits of taking a more proactive role in their care, including tracking headaches and understanding personal headache patterns, sufferers can enjoy an improved quality of life.

That is why the NHF is looking for your help to “Raise a million, to Help Millions.” The NHF uses 82 cents of every dollar donated to support the programs and services that we provide to improve the lives of headache sufferers.
