New Survey Finds Gap in Doctor-Patient Migraine Communication

A new national survey released by the National Headache Foundation and funded by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) identified a gap in doctor-patient migraine communication, impeding both from making the most of in-office medical visits.

Survey results suggest that while doctors and patients are having important discussions about migraine management, patients may not always recall key pieces of information from these conversations and doctors may be misinterpreting the emphasis or time devoted to a particular topic. NHF members Dr. Merle Diamond and Judy Brown are excited to be working with the NHF and GSK to offer strategies that may help others engage in more productive discussions about migraine management. For more information about the survey findings and helpful resources, such as a migraine diary, visit www.lowerthepain.com.

Editorial and other support for the survey was provided by the National Headache Foundation, with funding, development and other support provided by GlaxoSmithKline.

“Your article on Cluster Headaches is the most accurate so far. I can now show my coworkers what I go through. The fact is that I manage mine very well, utilizing all the methods you mention.”
