The 7th Headache Research Summit Materials
On October 16, 2009, the National Headache Foundation (NHF), in collaboration with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) hosted the Seventh Headache Research Summit in Chicago, Illinois to support and advance research into the diagnosis and treatment of headache.
The Summit provided an open forum for leaders in the field of headache to accomplish the following:
- Translate the understanding of the value of electrophysiological tests in headache medicine and cephalic pain
- Acquire a better understanding of the relationship between sleep/wake cycle physiology and pharmacology and head pain
- Describe the pathophysiological and mechanistic substrates of paroxysmal disorders such as vertigo and epilepsy
- Better describe the basic mechanisms of head pain and its modulation
- Acquire advanced knowledge in the role of hormones in cephalic pain
- Demonstrate added familiarity with various ionic channel disorders that are linked to migraine
